I have a 2003 Lexus RX300 with gps. After few years of hesitation, we finally decided to take it to the dealer and pay the $300 to upgrade the gps/maps. We started to get "Disc error" problems at random when the engine is turned on. these random errors would quickly get solved, by turning the engine on and off. However, few months ago, in the middle of a drive, a new error message popped up 'disc not detected'. We pulled to the side of the road, to try and 'restart' the car, but to no avail. We took it back to the dealer who said that the hard drive went bad, we'll need to pay $1200 to replace it! After we complained, they agreed to lower the price to $600 (50/50). They said only if another dealer can write us an official note to support that the upgrade is no good, then they'll refund the $300. Anyone heard of anything like that? I'm totally disappointed and looking to go to small claims court. For eight years, we took our Lexus back to the dealer for all the maintenance and oil changes.... Read More »
